I’ve been getting more and more curious about those for a while - it’s a hell of a lot of class for the money, and surely they can’t be tooooo expensive to run, right?

The arnage? maybe not. the turbo R? yes. they have some whiz bang hydraulic suspension that is ~10k to service I believe.

Ive ressurected my fair share of mercedes and felt that nickle and dime.
But if i cant buy a late model anything for 50000 and have it be reasonably reliable then something must be inheirantly wrong with that car.
Maybe when im a little more stable, a little more middle age ill sway towards a next level high end car. Bentley, rolls, maybach, aston, theyre all properly cool.

Apparently the $10k service is the cost of a full strip down after some idiot’s put the wrong fluid in. If nobody does that they just need a recharge every 5 years or so.
But the hydraulics (and the brakes - pads apparently take an insane amount of labour to replace and with that power and weight you’d be replacing them fairly often) appear to be the only really scary bits, and it wouldn’t at all surprise me if you could get some of it done cheaper by a Citroen guy - it’s all basically citroen-derived.
The rest of the powertrain has a rep for being basically bombproof, and the HVAC and electronics stuff is overengineered to the max, so it’s not S600 levels of scary.

As far as I’m aware a lot of the parts are Citroën parts or parts made by Citroën for Rolls Royce.
